Open a free storeGameLister is a United States only marketplace built so independent sellers can compete without renting expensive storefronts. Our model is simple: list free, pay only when you sell. See also Safety & fraud protection.
Marketplace selling fee
- Launch promo — first 5 sales free: for each seller, the first five paid marketplace sales have $0 GameLister selling fee (merchandise fee waived). Stripe card processing still applies. After that, standard fees below.
- Every sale after that: 6.5% of merchandise only (item prices). We do not take a selling fee on shipping collected for postage.
- Merchandise under $20: 6.5% + $0.35 flat on the item total. This small add-on covers card processing fixed costs so low-priced games stay viable for the platform.
- Merchandise $20 and above: 6.5% only (no flat fee).
- Shipping: Sellers offer free shipping (you cover postage) or live carrier rates via Shippo at checkout. You cannot set a custom shipping price. Local pickup is also free to the buyer ($0 ship).
- Buyer still only pays the listed item + ship total. Platform fees come out of the sale before seller payout (never an extra line on checkout).
Examples
- $7.00 item, free shipping → 6.5% ($0.46 rounded) + $0.35 = $0.81 fee → seller net $6.19 (before postage you pay separately).
- $40.00 item, free shipping → 6.5% = $2.60 fee → seller net $37.40.
- $40.00 item + $8.00 live Shippo rate charged to buyer → fee still $2.60 (on $40 only); seller net $45.40 before label cost if postage is paid via Shippo.
Stripe also charges standard U.S. card processing on the full charge (item + shipping) — typically around 2.9% + $0.30; confirm current rates with Stripe. That is separate from GameLister’s 6.5%.
What is free
- Creating a seller account
- Opening and branding a public shop (name, banners, theme, policies)
- Listing items from inventory on your storefront
- Barcode library lookup (title autofill when the UPC is in our library)
- Buyer tools: browse, chat, offers, watchlist (buyer account free)
How we compare (illustrative)
Competing marketplaces often stack listing fees, promoted listing %, high final-value fees, or subscription store plans. Exact competitor rates change over time — always check their sites — but GameLister’s pitch is intentionally simple:
- No monthly store rent to keep a branded shop online
- No per-listing insertion fee on the GameLister shop
- 6.5% when you sell on merchandise (+ $0.35 only under $20) — designed to leave more room after card processing than a ~10% all-in feel
When you get paid
- Buyer pays via Stripe → funds held on platform
- Shipped orders: seller enters carrier tracking, then buyer confirms delivery
- Local pickup: both parties enter dual meetup codes in GameLister (no carrier tracking required)
- First sale: additional 7-day cooldown before any payout can release
- After cooldown: payout when completion rules above are satisfied
- Seller receives net (merchandise − selling fee + any shipping collected) to their Stripe Connect account, subject to postage rules
Listing is free
Adding inventory does not cost listing credits. Use a webcam, USB camera, phone upload, barcode library match, and typed details — all free. Paid photo-AI / listing-assist packs are discontinued. The only seller fee is the marketplace selling fee above when an order is paid.
Taxes
Sellers are responsible for determining and remitting applicable sales tax, income tax, and other obligations. Platform fees do not include tax advice.
Changes
We may change fees with notice on this page and/or in the product. Orders already paid use the fee rate recorded on that order.
